![]() Physical LayoutMVYC (Latitude 38 degrees 42.0 N;: Longitude 077 degrees 07.2' W) lies directly on Dogue Creek, a Potomac River tributary which can be found on an original map of George Washington's home and property. The Club owns several acres of land directly on the water with views across the Potomac to the distant Maryland shore. A private lagoon provides a sheltered location for the Club's marina. The clubhouse is a three story structure located at the end of Tarpon lane in Yacht Haven. The clubhouse features a multi-purpose room with an adjoining bar, a meeting room and a member’s lounge. The clubhouse is available to individual members for weddings or other parties and social events. A wrap-around deck provides a panoramic view of the pool, marina, lagoon and beautiful Dogue Creek. The pool area contains a full length (25 meter) pool with a children's wading pool, and ample wide concrete aprons with chaises, tables and umbrellas overlooking the marina and river view. The marina, providing slips for over 130 boats on its floating and fixed piers, is located in a sheltered lagoon. A work dock is available for boat cleaning and small repairs. A boat ramp is available. A gasoline dock, staffed by Club volunteers, is open to MVYC members for limited periods on weekends during the boating season. “The Point” is a grassy area located at the waters edge where the Club's yardarm, with flags flying, sets the scene for the Club's formal Commissioning Day ceremony each May. Picnic tables and charcoal grills encourage regular gatherings. |
